MEDICARE Open Enrollment

October 15 – December 7, 2023

The Concord Council on Aging is Here to Help

Medicare open enrollment starts October 15th and ends December 7th! There is opportunity to compare your Medicare insurance coverage with a state certified SHINE (Serving Health Insurance Needs of Elders) counselor. The Concord Council on Aging (COA) offers SHINE counselors through Minuteman Senior Services who are available onsite at the COA offices or by phone for those who are disabled. Please contact the Concord COA to schedule a Medicare benefits checkup today. SHINE counselors can review your costs and coverage using the Medicare Planfinder and help you choose a Medigap supplement, Part D plan or Medicare Advantage Plan that works for you.

If you are struggling with high prescription drug costs or your Part D premium doubled this year, SHINE counselors can help. Part D premiums will increase in 2024 across the board, some will more than double. A SHINE counselor can enter your medications and dosage into the Medicare Planfinder and find the best cost Part D plan. A SHINE counselors can also provide information regarding Prescription Advantage for anyone who enters the coverage gap or “donut hole” and share other pharmacy resources like Needy Meds and coupon savings programs.

To schedule an appointment with a SHINE counselor please contact the Concord COA during its business hours at 978-318-3020. You must have an appointment and your in-person, 30-minute session will take place at the COA offices in the Harvey Wheeler Community Center at 1276 Main Street (enter through the back parking lot off Church Street.) COA offices are open Monday through Thursday, 8:30 AM – 4:30 PM and Friday 8:30 AM – 2:00 PM.
