The Concord Public Ceremonies and Celebrations Committee (CPCCC) is pleased to announce that O. Mario Favorito has been selected as this year’s Honored Citizen.
“Many residents know Mario through his extensive work on behalf of the Library,” said committee Chair Susan McCrory, “but Mario’s contributions to the Town of Concord extend far beyond it, and they have helped shape our community in important ways.”
Mr. Favorito was selected as Concord’s 2024 Honored Citizen based not only on twenty five years of invaluable service as a Trustee of the Library Corporation Board (for which he further served as Vice President and Treasurer), but also for his contributions to the Planning Board, the Zoning Board of Appeals, the restorations of both the West Concord Depot and the Fowler Branch Library, and his organization of all transportation needs and routes related to the Bicentennial celebration of 1975. Mr. Favorito held leadership positions for many of these municipal endeavors. Nevertheless, his nominators praised him for his “we” mentality and his genuine love of volunteerism.
The CPCCC wishes to congratulate all the worthy nominees in 2024. The number of candidates was impressive once again this year, as were the scope and scale of their collective contributions. Nomination forms and letters of support submitted for candidates in 2024 will be held by the CPCCC and considered again in 2025, along with any new nominations.
Mr. Favorito will be formally recognized as Concord’s 2024 Honored Citizen at a ceremony to be held on Sunday, March 24, 2024, 2:00 PM at the Town House. Members of the public are cordially invited to attend.
