[ARCHIVED] Town Manager’s Statement on Continued Acts of Harassment

Town Manager’s Statement on Continued Acts of Harassment Toward Superintendent of Schools

The Town of Concord stands united in rejecting the recent anonymous and targeted displays directed at the Superintendent of Schools, acts that violate our community’s core values of respect and civility. These actions are not expressions of free speech; they are acts of intimidation and harassment that have no place in our community. The Town stands united in its belief that all public servants have the right to carry out their responsibilities free from fear, harassment, or intimidation.

“Targeting or intimidating any public servant threatens the integrity of our entire system of local government,” said Town Manager Kerry Lafleur. “These acts undermine the trust and respect that are essential to civic participation and to the work we all share in building a stronger Concord.”

The investigation into these incidents remains open. Anyone with information that may assist the Concord Police Department is encouraged to contact the department at (978) 318-3400.

The Town calls upon all members of the community to join us in rejecting and speaking out against such tactics, and to help foster a culture of respect, integrity, and constructive civic engagement. “Our strength as a community is measured by how we treat one another,” Lafleur added. “We can disagree without demeaning, and we can debate without degrading. Let us recommit to that principle.”
