[ARCHIVED] Update on 2019 Data Breach Incident, Identity Monitoring Offers and Information

The Town of Concord recently sent a letter to parties who may have been affected by a possible data breach which occurred in October of 2019. This incident occurred when hard-drives scheduled for destruction during a routine equipment replacement program were found to have been improperly removed from a Town facility. The Concord Police Department immediately launched a criminal investigation and brought in outside forensic experts to determine what information may have been stored on the missing drives. At this time, the Town of Concord is not aware of any actual or attempted misuse of personal information which may have been contained in employee mailboxes, but continue to follow all required procedures and notification regulations as dictated by both state and federal law.

The Town of Concord takes this matter very seriously. Out of an abundance of caution and to assist anyone who may have questions or concerns about the incident, the Town has secured the services of Kroll, a Division of Duff and Phelps, to provide identity monitoring at no cost, for two years. The identity monitoring services include Credit Monitoring, Fraud Consultation, and Identity Theft Restoration. In addition, as mentioned the Town has partnered with a call center who specializes in identity theft and cyber security. This group is available to help answer questions and provide assistance for anyone who reaches out.

Should you have questions regarding credit monitoring or the services being provided you may contact the dedicated assistance line at 1-844-915-2896.
