Nationally arts and culture industries contribute 4.3% of national gross domestic product. (National Endowment for the Arts, 2022) and is comparable is size to the construction industry.
The arts are deeply woven into Concord's identity, offering a unique environment for small business owners to thrive. Concord’s creative landscape is rich and diverse, encompassing a blend of museums, galleries and studies, performing arts centers, historic sites of national importance, and educational programs for all ages. Whether it’s a historic site like the Concord Museum, the renowned Emerson Umbrella Center for the Arts, or one of the town's many galleries, Concord is a hub for artistic expression and cultural engagement. Central to the town’s cultural ecosystem are its two designated Cultural Districts, established by the Massachusetts Cultural Council (MCC). The Concord Center Cultural District and West Concord Junction Cultural District strategically leverage arts and culture to boost economic vitality through a place-based, asset centered approach. The Concord Cultural Council provides strategic thinking and coordination along with financial support, notably pass through grants provided by the MCC's Local Cultural Council (LCC) program.
