Critical Health Need for Electricity

If someone in your home relies on life support equipment operated by electricity, please let us know. We will include you on our confidential list of those customers with a critical health condition who depend on electricity for life support equipment.

Critical Health Need classification is designed to provide CMLP customers with reasonable notice of power interruption due to scheduled service maintenance to allow customers time to secure back-up power for their medical equipment. CMLP will attempt to restore power on a priority basis for customers on our Critical Health Need for Electricity list. Please note: CMLP cannot provide prior notification in the event of an emergency power failure due to natural causes or unforeseen system problems.

To Request Critical Health Need Classification

The customer's attending physician must provide verification regarding the patient's medical condition, type of equipment and length of time the equipment is needed. The customer and their attending physician can download and complete the Critical Health Need for Electricity application. Contact Customer Service at 978-318-3101 or by email for more information and to request an application form.

Backup Plan

We strongly recommend you have a backup plan since no utility can guarantee that you'll have electricity available 24 hours per day for 365 days. Your back up plan for power might be a battery-operated system, a generator, or an uninterruptible power supply. We recommend a minimum of 24 hours of backup power.

You should also keep emergency and physician phone numbers in an easily-accessible location.
